Computer Assisted Local Anesthesia
Our office uses a computer assisted anesthesia system which has been proven to be superior for administering local anesthetic to patients, when compared with traditional injections performed with a conventional syringe. Today's clinical research has shown that this technology enables the dental team to provide a more pleasurable experience for the patient and an easier, safer method of delivery.
Nitrous oxide sedation is available in our office and can be used on patients of all ages. It has been the primary means of sedation in dentistry for many years and few side effects are associated with its use. Nitrous oxide is mixed with oxygen and inhaled through a small mask. Its effects wear off soon after the mask is removed.
Nitrous oxide is used to eliminate dental anxiety, making the patient more comfortable during the planned dental care procedure. Nitrous oxide sedation not only is highly effective in the management of mild to moderate dental anxiety, but also very effective in minimizing gagging.
Our office is proud to use Diagnodent, a laser detection system that has the ability to detect hidden decay under clinically intact tooth structure. The Diagnodent scans the area with a laser light that detects hidden decay and using a numeric scale, allows our team to diagnose the proper treatment necessary to prevent further decay. The Diagnodent is a small, portable unit, safe for the patient, and is extremely accurate.
Digital Radiographic Imaging
We have incorporated Digital Radiographic Imaging into our practice to provide our patients with ongoing better dental care. Dental radiographs are invaluable aids in diagnosing, treating and maintaining dental health. Digital imaging has many advantages over traditional x-ray technology with significantly less exposure time needed. It also provides excellent valuable diagnostic information. This enables us to detect dental problems earlier and treatment plan accurately. Digital imaging also enables us to store patient images and quickly transfer them to appropriate specialists or insurance companies.
